Tobias Olofsson is a a PhD candidate in Sociology at Uppsala University Sweden and a member of the Uppsala Laboratory of Economic Sociology. Tobias’s current research focuses on the creation and realization of expectations and how valuation devises, temporality and justifications come together in these processes. For his dissertation, Tobias has carried out ethnographic and archival research of the field of mineral exploration in Sweden. Asking how measurements of mineral resources are inferred and justified in forecasts of economic profitability and in permitting process, the project aims at detailing how expectations of profitability, legality and worth are constructed, maintained, and communicated in present day mineral exploration.
