Financial Aid

The Graduate School offers full tuition and a stipend to all students accepted to the PhD program for the first several years. Please see Graduate School Financial Aid or contact the Graduate School (847-491-5279) for the most current information.

Requirements for University Funding

TAships require a student:

  • To be registered as a full-time graduate student which includes a TGS 598, 599, or 503 registration;
  • To file a FAFSA form or a renewal FAFSA if a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident;
  • To take the TSE and score at least 50 if an international student (but not Canadian);
  • To be in good academic standing (includes keeping your record clear of incompletes; if you have an incomplete that is more than a year old, you must petition to extend the deadline)
  • Being admitted to candidacy by the end of the fourth year or petitioning to extend the deadline.

If any of these requirements are not met, the Graduate School will not approve a TAship.

RAships require a student:

To be a lecturer a student must have completed all coursework.
